Are you looking for a holiday in one of the 5 departments of Pays de la Loire? You will find 542 campsites in the Pays de la Loire and you will need to plan on average a budget of 644€ for a week camping in the Pays de la Loire, or even more if you choose to spend your holidays by the sea, in one of the famous seaside resorts on the coast.
La Loire-Atlantique
There are 120 campsites in Loire Atlantique, whose prices are around €608, increasing in the high summer season, this department, located on the Breton border, reveals more or less the same landscapes as Brittany, including the famous salt marshes of Guérande (housing the Château de Ranrouët) and Brière. Nearby, think of visiting the exotic thatched cottage village of Kerhinet, in Saint-Lyphard, where the Guérande peninsula is home to several well-known seaside resorts, the main one being La Baule, popular with water sports and sliding enthusiasts.
We advise you to choose camping Le Bois d'Amour 3*, pleasantly located in the heart of a pine forest and only 800 m from the beaches. Pornic, another important seaside resort, is home to the magnificent Eleovic 4 campsite,* which offers many amenities, including access to the sea and a beautiful swimming pool with jacuzzi.
The rich heritage of this department is mainly composed of many dolmens and castles, including the castles of Chateaubriand and Clisson, to visit absolutely! But let's not forget Nantes, the prefecture of the region, cradle of the famous castle of the Dukes of Brittany and superb historic districts, do not hesitate to take inspiration from our selection of the 10 best campsites near the Châteaux de la Loire.
Le Maine-et-Loire
t is a more rural department, developed in the agricultural sector, which will certainly please lovers of the beautiful countryside, which is why Terra Botanica Park was created. You can discover this theme park near Angers, a historic city dating back to -4500 BC. 39 campsites can be found in Maine-et-Loire, and will have to pay an average of €565 for a one-week stay, all seasons combined... You can easily settle down at the Les Portes de l'Anjou 3* campsite, bordered by the Loir and having a beautiful aquatic area with an Olympic pool. Animations and children's club are offered every day in summer, and, in the village of Durtal, 400 m away, you can visit the great castle of the Counts of Anjou.
The territory of this department is bathed by no less than 4500 km of rivers, suitable for water sports and swimming, and several castles and troglodyte habitats are located there. We have also identified for you a very good campsite in Brissac-Quincey, camping l'Etang 4*, with a beautiful swimming pool with slides and access to a lake, as well as providing entertainment and a club where you can register your little ones for everyone to enjoy! .
La Mayenne
Voiciere yet another face of the Pays de la Loire, composed of rounded hills and shallow valleys. Hundreds of kilometres of waterways are navigable and a multitude of hiking trails are available, mainly at the foot of the Avaloirs and Coëvrons mountains, in the large pine forests of the moors...
There are 8 campsites in the Mayenne, offering stays at around 378€ per week... The main city is Laval, a pretty town dotted with half-timbered houses and dominated by its imposing castle. Because you will also find here many castles to visit, including the château Sainte-Suzanne, very well preserved, near Mayenne, you will find the camping du Parc de Vaux 3*, in Ambrières-les-Vallées, which we recommend. Equipped with a water park with a slide and offering entertainment and a children's club, this campsite enjoys the proximity of Lake Haute-Mayenne, ideal for various water sports.
Le Refuge de l'Arche, a zoological park dedicated to injured or abandoned animals, is one of the most popular in the area. Located in Château-Gontier, it is next to the Parc 3* campsite, which has all the facilities (swimming pool, entertainment and access to a river). Feel free to pack your bags and enjoy this original zoo.
Finally, we recommend that you include in your holiday programme a visit to the Saulges caves and another to the Tatin Museum.
La Sarthe
You will find 17 campsites in La Sarthe drowned in state forests (including Bercé) and rich in hundreds of historical monuments, including superb castles (see Château du Lude). To enjoy the tranquility and freshness of the region's riverbanks, settle in at Camping Le Lac de Varennes 3*, in Marçon, bordered on one side by the Loir River and on the other by a pretty lake.Le Mans, a major city in the Sarthe region known for its 24 Hours of Le Mans, is home to the fabulous Saint-Julien Cathedral and the Carré Plantagenêt (museum of archaeology and history). 2,* the number of stars at Camping Les Tournesols has nothing to do with the environment of this pretty campsite, nestled in a green setting, so you can be sure not to miss anything. Admittedly, you will not find a swimming pool, but several sports fields, a playground with inflatable structures for the youngest ones and entertainment are even planned. 9 cities of character (Asnières-sur-Vègre, Brûlon...) are also located in the department, which will reveal their wonders during beautiful walks.
La Vendée
Finally, in this last department of the Pays de la Loire but not the least, we can only praise the beauty of the local landscapes, of this beautiful Côte de Lumière hemmed with dunes, hiding from the view of sumptuous pine forests where it is pleasant to walk.Essentially prized for its famous seaside resorts of Les Sables d'Olonne and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, among others, the coastline welcomes every summer hundreds of holidaymakers who come to enjoy the waves of the Atlantic Ocean (swimming and sliding sports are legion! In Olonne-sur-Mer, we have selected for you the superb campsite La Loubine 4*, located on the edge of the forest and 2 km from the sea, and above all equipped with an exceptional water park with slides. In Saint-Jean-de-Monts, another famous seaside resort, choose camping Le Zagarella 4* with great facilities: huge water park, pine woods, entertainment, children's club... La Roche-sur-Yon and its Napoleon square are very popular in the Vendée, but not as popular as the Puy du Fou park, a medieval theme park attracting thousands of visitors every year. Off the Vendée coast, you will discover the beautiful Île d'Yeu by boat, for the pleasure of the eyes!
