Nicknamed the "Lakes Region", Lombardy offers sumptuous landscapes, not only composed of the many lakes of the region bordered by luxurious villas, but also of the high mountains of the Alps overlooking splendid valleys, so this region of Italy is logically appreciated by tourists in both summer and winter, and you will need to count on average 651€ per week when camping in Lombardy, the prices fluctuating according to the number of stars and the location of the campsite. Milan
We cannot start our chapter without mentioning Milan, the main tourist destination in Lombardy and the capital of the region. A multitude of Renaissance monuments are scattered throughout the city, including the famous Duomo, adjacent to the superb Palazzo Reale, the Santa Maria delle Grazie temple, housing Leonardo da Vinci's Ultima Cena in the refectory of his convent, among other historical monuments....Several museums with masterpieces by renowned artists will appeal to art lovers, the best known being the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana... Milan's territory is criss-crossed by rivers and navigable streams. Information to use to visit the surroundings in an original way! On your way you will come across many castles, such as Castello Borromeo d'Adda on the banks of the Muzza or Castello Visconteo in Cusago. Feel free to stop by for a visit.
The Great Lakes of Lombardy
We unfortunately do not have any campsites to recommend in the vicinity of Milan, most of the campsites being located on the banks of the lakes of Lombardy. However, 50 km away (the nearest campsite!), you will find the Internazionale de Côme campsite, a pretty family campsite with a swimming pool and a stone's throw from Lake Como, a pretty town nestled at the foot of Mont Brunate.
Lake Maggiore is one of the other lakes in Lombardy, also located about an hour's drive from Milan, allowing for beautiful walks on its shores adorned with parks and noble villas.
A large majority of Lombardy's campsites are located on the shores of the immense Lake Garda, divided in two between Lombardy and Veneto. The most popular of them is the 4-star camping Bella Italia, in Peschiera del Garda, a large family campsite with a gigantic aquatic complex and a children's club. 4-star camping Baia Verde, also on the banks of Lake Garda, has a private beach. Everything has been designed to make your holiday perfect: water park, jacuzzi, children's club and entertainment for all.
Lombardy's flagship cities
Despite this concentration of campsites around the lakes, let's not miss the beautiful flagship cities of Lombardy, starting with Bergamo. You will see the Accademia Carrara, the largest Italian art gallery, the Colleoni chapel and the Donizetti Theatre. The names of Cremona, famous for its luthiers, Monza, home to the Automobile Circuit and the Villa Reale, or Pavia and its Visconti castle, are certainly not unknown to you, as are the cities of Mantua and Sabbionetta, which are listed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, as are the Sacri Monti around Varese and Ossuccio, and the rock paintings of Valcamonica.
