Description of the campsite

Located in Saverdun in Ariège, the campsite Rivière invites you to discover a region rich in heritage.

The Rivière campsite is, as its name indicates, on the banks of the river. Vacationers can indeed enjoy this privileged proximity with a river to spend whole days lounging and enjoy relaxing moments in a natural setting of the most rejuvenating. Camping Rivière is also very close to a lake, which will allow the whole family to enjoy a beach to sunbathe and rest, or to practice water activities with great pleasure.

By staying at the camping Rivière, holidaymakers will have the opportunity to visit some remarkable sites that make the wealth of the city of Saverdun. It will be possible to visit a Romanesque church built in 1253 and rebuilt in a Gothic style around 1510. Inside this church, visitors can admire the high altar, beautiful stalls or the abbey seat and five large paintings painted from the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Visitors will also discover the Halle, formerly a consular house, which was a major hub for the trade in cereals and pulses. Those who like to stroll will have the pleasure of discovering the Ardouin Hotel with its Renaissance garden where various medicinal plants are cultivated. Inside this hotel is a museum that tells the story of the city, from the Neolithic until today through the barbarian times. Leaving the hotel, there's nothing like taking a stroll along the banks of the river Hers and discovering the last arch of a medieval bridge from the shady banks.

Going even further, holidaymakers will be able to visit sites that are famous for Ariège. It will be possible for example to visit the cave of Niaux, the Castle of Foix, the Castle of Montségur, the cave of Mas d'Azil, the city of Mirepoix, Saint-Lizier or the park of prehistory.
