Franche-Comté-
Franche-ComtéIt's done, it's decided! For your holidays, you go camping in Franche-Comté. There are 91 campsites in Franche-Comté, including 22 in the Doubs, 47 in the Jura, 16 in Haute-Saône and 3 in Belfort. To help you see more clearly, here is a small topo on Franche Comté, in which you will find the essential sites and the best campsites to stay...
The Doubs : Historic Franche Comté
There are 2 of the most important cities in Franche-Comté. Besançon, the historic capital of Franche-Comté, which everyone knows for its magnificent citadel (within whose walls there is now a fantastic zoo), is representative of the many forts and fortifications for which the region is renowned.
If you have chosen this city for your holiday, we highly recommend camping Domaine de La Roche d'Ully 4*, classified among the "Sites et paysages de France" campsites, and superbly located in the heart of the Loue valley, in Ornans (9 km). This green campsite, with its beautiful aquatic area, also offers large, comfortable Key West cottages for rent.
You will find near this campsite and part of the same chain, Camping Le Chanet 4*, original for its medieval aspect and the rental of medieval tents. So close to the Loue, go for a walk near the sumptuous springs of the Loue, which have inspired so many artists.
Montbéliard is the second largest city in the department, built around a magnificent castle and unveiling its wonderful Christmas Market in winter, to pack your bags, choose, on our advice, the municipal campsite of Les Grands Ansanges 2*, in Mandeure (15 km), modest in the services offered but friendly and pleasant in its location by the river.
Otherwise, a good alternative between all these campsites, you will find the splendid Val de Bonnal 5* campsite halfway between Besançon and Montbéliard (in Bonnal), part of the Castels chain and offering great facilities, including proximity to a huge natural aquatic domain formed by several bodies of water and supplied by the Ognon.
Count, on average, 730€ per week camping in Le Doubs. Among other unmissable sites await you there are the fabulous Gouffre de Poudrey (including the largest underground room in France) and Cirque de Consolation, offering sumptuous landscapes.
Franche Comté on the mountain side
Direction le Jura which will undoubtedly amaze nature and sport lovers, attracting skiers from all walks of life to its massif, mainly cross-country skiers, but also alpine skiers, in the ski resorts of Les Rousses and Métabief (on the Swiss border). This beautiful department is home to the Vosges Balloons Natural Park, criss-crossed by multiple hiking trails, and an average of €680 for a week camping in the Jura.
To have all the time you need to enjoy this beautiful city and its surroundings, settle down at Les Bords de Loue 3* (in Parcey), and enjoy the friendliness of a pretty family campsite, its swimming pool with paddling pool, its varied activities and its club for children, but above all its access to the river for swimming, fishing or canoeing.
Near the mountains and just as family-oriented, camping La Petite Montagne 3* (in Moirans) is a pretty little campsite equipped with a beautiful swimming pool and playgrounds, all this in an exceptional setting. But if you are looking for a top-of-the-range campsite, don't hesitate to settle down at Camping La Pergola 5*, at the foot of the Jura massif and on the shores of the beautiful Lac du Chalain, where you can practice many water sports. All the services expected of a 5-star hotel are available (heated swimming pool, entertainment, children's club...) You will be a stone's throw from the impressive Cascades du Hérisson, a site not to be missed during your stay in the area.
The Haute-Saône
In Haute-Saône, no big city (but if you "wanted to see Vesoul", you will see Vesoul!), only beautiful sites to see, including the chapel designed by Le Corbusier perched on the Notre-Dame du Haut hill in Ronchamp and the wonderfully well preserved Château d'Oricourt, witness of medieval military architecture. We have selected for you 3 campsites in Haute-Saône: Amateur of stays that are out of the ordinary? Camping Les Cabanes des Grands Lacs (near Xonrupt) is for you: you can stay in magnificent wooden huts perched in the trees or set on the lake, in order to be one with nature.More traditional, camping Les Jonquilles 3* (in Hurecourt) is nestled in the heart of the beautiful and green countryside of Franche-Comté, for a completely relaxed holiday.
In Villersexel, you will find camping Le Chapeau Chinois 3*, family and friendly, offering access to a river and organizing activities in the evening, to have fun until the end of the night!
The Franche Comté on the move
It is home, as its name suggests, to the very famous city of Belfort, known for its famous Eurockéennes and its dozens of concerts by internationally renowned artists, as well as for its statue of Lion at the foot of the citadel.Just outside Belfort, camping L'Etang des Forges 3* will allow you to pack your bags close to the city centre, despite its proximity to the city, you will be accommodated in a natural setting near a beautiful pond, a heated swimming pool and a children's club. Camping du Lac de la Seigneurie 3* (in Leval) welcomes you to its pretty green area on the shores of a large lake, offering the services of a family campsite. Mountain lovers will certainly not forget to explore the hiking trails of the Vosges, in search of breathtaking panoramas, or the wonderful natural park of the Ballon d'Alsace.
